Romania is ready for outsourcing logistics, says Robin Martens, general director of the Bucharest based Archicom Srl. To discuss this issue with a.o. the management of retail chains, production companies and logistic service companies, on March 15th 2007, Archicom organizes in exclusive partnership with Trafic Media (the publisher of the leading Romanian magazines Logistica and Tranzit) a seminar in Hotel Crowne Plaza in Bucharest.

Logistics in Romania is a story in itself. Nowadays the system of delivery is still predominantly executed by distributors, agents and importers, mostly serving a limited number of regions. This resembles distribution structures in West Europe many years ago. However, the solutions in place in West Europe, with logistics outsourced to logistics services providers as a key element, are now also considered best practise for the CEE hemisphere.

The seminar aims at all those who are involved in the logistics process in Romania; either as board member of a retail chain, as director of a production company, or as expert delivering financial or legal services to the logistics industry, or as general manager of a logistics services provider in-/outside Romania. The seminar, which will be held on March 15th 2007 in Crowne Plaza Hotel in the Bucharest, is titled “Romania is ready for outsourcing logistics. How about you?”

Mr. Robin Martens sees the seminar as a start up or speeding up of increased savings in the distribution costs in Romania. “Examples in Romania show total distribution costs of around 12 to 16% of turnover, whereas a third of that would be considered best in class. According to expert calculations over € 500 million can be saved in Romania with an improved distribution structure. Outsourcing logistics is considered an instrumental ingredient to realize the savings.”
